who uses heat lamps for new born puppies? at what age do you turn them off? i use mine until 3/4 weeks then only turn it on over a crate to help dry the pups if they have been bathed!
depending on time of year of course!
i just think without it until 8 weeks they may still get chilly after a bath

We don't use heat lamps at all, as we find it is too hot for the bitch. We prefer to use heat pads under the vetbed and have no problems with this method.

Our puppies are with their mum 24/7 providing one of us is with them to keep a close eye. The only time they get put in a cage is if we need the necessary comfort breaks!! Having had to hand rear a litter of 13 when their mother died on the table having a c-section , I make the most of having the Mum around!
