| I'm a week late in sharing his monthly photos. It's amazing... one minute he looks all grown up and the next he looks like a (HUGE) puppy. Notice the spit bubble Oliver (8 years), Norm, and Mary (12½ years) He has an enormous mouth Sweet puppy eyes Double bubbles Visiting his half-sister, Kendall, who is 5 months older | |

I have read about but never seen the prong collar that is on his half sister... they look a bit savage?!!! It would surprise you, but prong/pinch collars are kinder, more gentle, than the typical choke chain. A prong collar has a limited slip (only tightens slightly then stops), so it doesn't choke a dog. The prongs are rounded and polished, the pressure they apply is far more gentle than a choke chain... I've tried both on my arms and legs... and believe me I would rather use a prong if I had to use eitiher. Norm wears a rolled leather collar. If I couldn't control him with that, I'd likely get a head collar for him.

cheri xxx Thanks Cheri. Norm is doing well with his physio/hydrotherapy. He went back to see the orthopedic surgeon and he too was impressed with his progress. Our plan is to continue with his therapy and reassess him next spring. I don't want to consider surgery in the winter... I don't want a post-surgical dog navigating on ice or snow.
