who takes all or as many away as possible?

who lets the bitch eat half of them?

ive found just about every person i speak too wants to do it a different way and have even been asked to keep one for a owner to look at after the bitch had pups as she had never seen one before! Shocked

If any of ours wants to eat, we let them eat, its natures way & its instinctive in some to eat it as if they were in the wild, the placenta would attract predators. Its a good source of nutrient for the bitch. Some bitches will not entertain it & will sever the pup from the placenta & ignore it( the placenta not the pup LOL), some bitches have just looked at the pup in the bag & wondered what to do next & give you a look of disbelief if you offer the placenta to them to eat!

We've had one bitch eat some & leave others.

Maisy ate all hers the first litter & had a dreadful upset stomach after... 2nd litter I gave her a couple & she seemed ok with that & no upset tum either.
I am hideously squeamish so Lillie, age 11, deals with the placentas for me!!!!

Never had Saint pups yet but my toy dogs I allow to eat 2 as I also find letting them eat too many upsets their tummies.

Jade ate three of hers and would have had more if I had let her but didn't want her to have a runny tummy !
