Bald patches on elbows

Has anyone out there had dogs with bald patches on their elbows. Nelson who is coming up 13mths seems to have developed them on both elbows, dont seem to be itchy or bothering him, skin isnt weepy.

I wondered if it is caused when he lies down, or should I say thumps down. We've tried to put bedding on the floor at his favourite spots but he'll just go and lie elsewhere.

thats exactly what it is! weve found nothing really helps esp when the weather is hot and they want to lay on cold tiles,

being smooth doesnt help either! if you look at pictures from shows you will alot of dogs have the same issue in variying degrees, some are much worse than others

they dont seem a problem until they break open, and then you will go round and round in circles,

our dogs get them in the summer and they go in the winter- when they lay more on there bes and carpet - the stables have carpet in the winter aswell

if all else fails SEND HIM BACK!!!!

I suggest you use oatmeal soap on the elbows to promote hair growth. This soap will moisturize the skin and it has proteins to promote hair growth.

Any tips on where to get the oatmeal soap? Nelson's left elbow is particularly pink and he has a little bit that he has caught on something and it has now scabbed. I'm making sure it is clean - he doesnt seem to be in any pain or discomfort - just looks worse - the recent hot weather hasnt helped.

thnx Cheri will given that a go. He's very sensitive with shampoo - even with watered down baby shampoo if we dont get it all out, he breaks out in a reaction!! not so good but i still love him to bits xx
